We spend much of our lives surrounded by technology.
Phones buzz with notifications, computers demand our attention, smart devices keep us connected and countless digital systems operate quietly around us.
Technology can make our lives considerably easier, but that doesn’t mean we need to interact with it every waking moment.
Perhaps your weekend plans should include switching off for a while.
Put the work laptop away. Silence unnecessary notifications. Step outside, spend some time with family or friends, work in the garden, take a walk or simply sit somewhere peaceful without feeling the need to check a screen.
Interestingly, many of the sustainable and automated technologies we discuss at Sustainable Systems & Tech are ultimately designed to help systems operate more efficiently with less unnecessary human intervention.
Technology should support our lives rather than consume them.
So, while our usual discussions involve sustainability, innovation, engineering and emerging technologies, our Saturday message is much simpler.
Recharge yourself too.
The emails, notifications and digital world will still be there afterwards. Give yourself some time this weekend to enjoy the physical world around you.
Have a peaceful and refreshing weekend from Sustainable Systems & Tech.
